Backpacking in Europe

Backpacking in Europe

Backpacking in Europe is a fantastic way to cheaply see a vast range of different countries on the continent and to get to experience all of the different cultures and locations without having to shell out for expensive hotel suites, or on internal flights. Backpacking in Europe then is the best way to get an authentic experience across Europe and guarantees an amazing and varied holiday for prices you otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford.

Backpacking gets its name from the fact that those who go ‘backpacking’ often do so while wearing just a backpack. This means that while backpacking in Europe you should carry all of your belongings in one small bag, rather than bringing a suitcase as you might do on a holiday to just one European country. This is what allows you then to use other forms of transportation such as the bus or the underground where you might otherwise find yourself hindered by dragging large suitcases, and what allows you to stay in communal rooms without much storage (for this reason it’s also a good idea to avoid bringing many valuables when backpacking in Europe).

Often the cheapest way to find hotels when backpacking in Europe is to turn up to them without booking in advance. By taking rooms left over on the night, the hotels have no motivation not to allow you to barter with them. At the same time some people choose to sleep on beaches, or to stay at people’s houses when backpacking in Europe. It’s even possible to find websites where people agree to let backpackers stay on their sofas abroad.

Another important thing to consider when backpacking in Europe is transport. Again there are ways that a backpacker can get their transport more cheaply, and especially when backpacking in Europe. For instance it is possible to get train passes design specifically for that purpose that allow you to go anywhere across many European countries within a set time period. Other people choose to hitchhike when backpacking in Europe.

Backpacking in Europe won’t be for everyone, and if you have a family or want a more restful experience, then you might choose another way to spend your holiday. However if you do decide backpacking in Europe is for you, we have discussed just a couple of ways you can use this to get one of the most complete and authentic experiences of these amazing cultures and landscapes as possible.

I have to say that backpacking is not an option for me. I do not like having no idea where I will be staying for the night, and having to carry everything with you? That just would get to be frustrating. I would buy too much and it would never fit into my pack.

I think that backpacking is a great adventure in Europe. I am thinking about doing it this year as a great vacation. I can save money by staying in hostels and get to see a great place for pretty cheap. If anyone has any advice please place it below!!

Backpacking to me sounds so boring. Why would you want to put yourself through that? I would much rather sit in a nice hotel and have myself pampered. That sounds like a great vacation to me.
