Europe destinations – something for everyone

European destinations

European destinations

When talking about destinations in Europe, one just can’t carry on with the discussion without giving a due mention to France- a country that attracts the maximum number of tourists from around the world, annually. France has also been endowed the status of being the worlds most favorite tourist destination by the Lonely Planet. Paris, the Mecca of fashion, aesthetic monuments and warm people, is the most preferred tourist destination of Europe. The Eiffel Tower is seen as the symbol of tourism and its impact is profound on the travel industry. A lot is already known about France, and therefore, we would be going through some of the relatively less proclaimed Europe destinations, which are just as breathtaking as Paris or the Eiffel Tower.

The reason why most people are attracted towards Europe destinations as tourists, is that after the integration of the EU and the free trade and travel policy implementations, the whole idea of traveling cross-continent at lower expenses, had gained weight. Therefore, tourists who would otherwise have come to visit only France initially, can now go on and see a lot of other places within Europe, without having to spend a fortune on applying for permits. To top it all, reduced airline tickets, and the revamping of major tourist spots across Europe by the governments have made many Europe destinations hot favorites amongst tourists from all over the world.

Apart from London, another Europe destination is the UK. Known for its cultural significance is Bath. Boasting of England’s only natural springs, the city of Bath is an architectural marvel, with most of its architecture revolving around the Georgian era- definitely one of the must visit Europe destinations.

Rome, having the status of being one of the oldest and the most popular tourist destinations in the world, is definitely on our list of must visit Europe destinations. Being en route to some of the busiest air passages in the world, Rome experiences some of the most economical flight tickets, and this fact has further led people into being fond of this Europe destination.

Edinburgh, Düsseldorf, Brussels and Switzerland are some other Europe destinations which rule the roost when it comes to the rich cultural heritage that they have to offer- definitely worth a visit.

I think that this is a very narrow focus on Europe as a tourist destination. Most capitals of the countries have to offer something, and not all are as expensive as Paris. And all countries have to offer much more than just their capitals.

A bit strange is also the list: Edinburgh, Düsseldorf, Brussels – and Switzerland. Three cities and one country?!

If you want to visit Europe, you should ask yourself what side of the continent is most interesting, the historic one, the one of the 20th century (including the World Wars and the Cold War history), or the 21st century. Do you want to discover the quiet remote areas or the metropolitan areas? Do you want to have it cold, warm, or mild? Do you have time or do you have to focus? Do you want to see just the beautiful face of the continent or also the problematic areas?

Reducing Europe (or the European Union) to four or five places is just wrong, because the special feature of this region is its diversity, and everyone can – and should – chose which elements are most interesting, most relevant, most exiting.

The rest is a question of money…

That’s very true, Julien. Europe destinations are famous thanks to the continent’s diversity. People should keep this in mind.

I’ve just been writing about a European cities poll carried out by TripAdvisor.com, for the Auto Europe blog (http://blog.auto-europe.co.uk/). Almost 2,400 travellers named Paris as having the best-dressed locals and best cuisine in Europe, but it wasn’t voted the most romantic – Venice won that accolade.
