There are many European festivals which are famous worldwide, yet some of these are just too good to not get a mention. The Redentore festival- Venice, is marked with fun, feast and festivities. Celebrated on the third Sunday of every July, this is one of the most beautiful and spectacular festivals of Europe. Another ancient festival that has been going on for ages is the the Festa Della Madonna Bruna, which takes place in Italy towards the end of July. This festival is full of crackers, crowd, feasts and eloquently dressed horsemen.
You may also love the Ghent festival, which is the largest open air and cultural festival in Europe and takes place at Ghent towards the end of July. If you are a food and football freak, The National Eisteddfod of Wales, lasting from July to August is the right place for you. Termed as the festival being visited by most of the travelers around, this is definitely worth a visit.
The Roskilde Festival- Denmark is festival for music lovers. Termed as the largest rock festival in Europe, this festival takes place during the last months of July or during early August, and is definitely worth a visit for anybody even remotely associated with music, especially rock music.
Now, who hasn’t heard of the Tomatina festival? This is the same festival wherein you get to pelt and throw tomatoes at anyone and everyone present even in the farthest range of your pelting power! It is a part of the larger Bunol parties that take place in Spain towards the end of August.
For the connoisseur of art, the Edinburgh festival is the best bet. This festival features some of the best fine arts in the whole of Europe. This festival attracts a huge crowd consisting of artists, collectors and onlookers- a colorful and never-ending merger.
Filled with cultural exuberance, Europe is at the peak of its festivities during the summer months, between late June to early September, and a carefully planned tour can definitely end you up in being a part of all the fun and the frolic that the locals and tourists enjoy and love so much here.

There are many great festivals in Europe. When I was in Germany ten years ago, one morning we found ourselves watching a religious parade that I was very intrigued by. The alter boys were walking with banners, and the priest was also walking with them. It seemed very traditional and felt good to be a part of.
