European Mountains

If you’re looking for an adventurous kind of holiday, a scenic one or an action packed one, then travelling to a selection of European mountains will give you spectacular views, exciting climbs and loads of exercise. European mountains include some of the most impressive mountains in the world and provide some of the most beautiful sights and most challenging ascents. Here we will look at where you can find some of the best European mountains whether your game is hiking, sight seeing or rock climbing.

European Mountains

For hiking any European mountains with some great walking paths will do the trick. While England doesn’t really offer much in terms of mountains, the rest of the UK is great for gentler ascents with good foot paths. Wales for instance has large selection of European mountains that provide a range of difficulty levels. The Snowdon area in particular has some great European mountains and particularly the titular Mt Snowdon which is the largest mountain in Wales. Another great choice is the mountain known colloquially as ‘little big mountain’ – named for the fact that it looks tall from one side, but relatively very gentle from the other. As well as the European mountains this area has a lot of great scenery and sites around it such as the castle in Criccieth and more. For more European mountains in the UK you should also try visiting the North of Scotland where you can see the Scottish highlands which offer some much taller climbs but a very cool climate to make life easier.

Meanwhile if it’s site seeing you’re more interested in then you will be spoiled for choice. Some European mountains that are particularly beautiful however have to be the Zakopane mountains in Poland. This mountain range is one that is fairly little-known but nevertheless provides fantastic vistas across snow capped peaks. What makes it so great is how easy it is to get to some of the views from the town itself. There are many more European mountains however that offer fabulous views, of course famously must be the Swiss Alps that provide waterfalls and snow-capped peaks and join on to the Italian on one side. If you’ve ever seen the film ‘Cliffhanger’ with Sylvester Stallone and were impressed by the views then you will recognise these European mountains.

Finally if it’s rock climbing you’re after then you won’t necessarily need European mountains but can do just as well with any cliff faces or steep inclines. Cornwall and Dorset in England offer a great range of climbs and anywhere like Lulworth Cove (also a beautiful cove) or Limeregous will keep you busy. For some authentic European mountains to climb meanwhile you should visit Font in France which is a great spot for many European mountaineers.

Alps always fascinate me specially the lakes in Austria and Switzerland. After spending my every holiday in the high reaches of Alps I always want to go back. My favourite lakes and mountains holidays have been in the Kaprun village in Salzburg Austria.

We went into Switzerland for a few days and hiked there. It was amazing to do. I felt so free as I hiked up the mountains. The scenery was breath taking as well. We rode a train up to the mountains and then hiked to the top. Beautiful!

Switerzerland is just a beautiful place to visit, Angie. I have been there a few times and the hiking is awesome. The view is great too. I love the European mountains. They are so picturesque.

I think that if you go to Europe, on your agenda you have to see the mountains. They are so pretty and hiking on them is an experience in itself. Breath taking as Angie stated above. I love being able to be out in nature, and Europe is just as great of a place to do it as any.

European mountains are the best places where you can go camping.
I like European mountains for their fresh air and their beautiful landscapes.
I always go camping with my family and my friends. We do walking and in the evening we make campfire. It is so relaxing, fun, and at the same time scary for some of us because at the end we say horror stories.

I would have never thought of doing camping and mountain hiking together. Seems to be a great adventure there , Lucien.
I think that mountains in Europe are so picturesque. I have only seen pictures but they look so relaxing and nice that I would love to visit them.

I have never heard of the Zakopane mountains in Poland. But they sound very beautiful with the snow capped on them. And if you can see views from the town I bet that is just breathtaking in itself. Hope to travel to Poland one day to see these great mountains.

Many European mountains can offer you the chance to practice extreme sports. Mountains are good places where you can start exciting adventures.
Even so you must be very prepared when you start to do this. It is not so easy. I know that this adventure of climbing European mountains is very thrilling but remember to be very careful.

I agree with Jerry, climbing European mountains is very thrilling but you must be very careful. See how many unhappy events happened around European mountains. People with great experience died or got injured. You must be very careful. Any wrong move can be deadly.

European mountains are something which I adore. I always get relaxed when I go there. That fresh air without anything to pollute it…Those beautiful views which seem to be from a story. This landscape of European mountains is indeed something magic.

The mountains may be beautiful. I agree there. But i have no desire to hike them. That to me sounds dreadful. I would rather just sit and watch.
