Just as coffee is huge in the US, European tea and coffee is also a huge part of life in many European countries. Possibly the country most famously linked to European tea and coffee is England. Specifically England is known for its love of tea and indeed this is true and tea really plays the role that coffee does in the US when you head to England. The majority of English people will enjoy tea with milk and this is the first thing many residents will do when they wake up in the morning to get them ready for work, while settling down to a project or task, or when they get home from a long day at work. Like a lot of other European tea and coffee, tea in England is also a highly social drink and if someone should come round for a visit will likely be offered tea. Another traditional way to enjoy European tea and coffee in England is to have ‘afternoon tea’ which is offered in quite a few places still and particularly in smaller villages and in expensive hotels and restaurants. Here the tea will come with small sandwiches, scones and butter/jam to spread on them and will be presented on a large stand that goes in the middle of the table. This is a very fun way to experience European tea and coffee and a highly social way too.
However while European tea and coffee is well known in England it is actually just as popular or more popular even in Ireland. The Irish also enjoy tea in a similar manner to the English and produce more of it than anywhere else in the world. Of course they are also well known for creating ‘Irish coffee’ and ‘Irish tea’ in which they add a touch of whiskey into the proceedings (try Jameson for an authentic Irish tipple). This is not the European tea and coffee they drink as a matter of course, but is famous and highly popular nonetheless.
In most of the rest of Western Europe such as France and Germany coffee is more popular though tea is gradually gaining ground. Meanwhile the European tea and coffee of choice in some Eastern European countries such as Poland is lemon tea. This is black tea that includes a lemon rather than milk and is very refreshing as a result. Across some of the hotter countries such as Turkey fruit tea is a popular form of European tea and coffee. This includes things like lemon tea and apple tea, and you may find that you get offered Apple tea while shopping around Turkish markets to entice you in (but also because the Turkish are great hosts). Fruit tea is also very popular in Austria and has many health benefits over the European tea and coffee you get elsewhere.

Irish coffee is one of my all time favorites. It just has a good deep flavor to it. I am a fan of any kind of tea and would fancy a vacation to England one day to drink English tea. And fruit tea is very popular. I love some good lemon tea.
I had my best european tea and coffee in England. I love their highly social drink. Many tourists enjoy the afternoon tea.
Not sure if England has the best european tea and cofee. But from what I have tried, they seemed great.
What I like most about European tea and coffe is their diversity. You can drink so many types of European Tea and coffee around the continent… you will surely find out your favorite. I am most into tea, so I would also choose UK as my favorite european tea provider :D
I love going to coffee shops. I am a huge fan of tea. I love English tea, as it is my all time favorite. I can see why many people like this social drink. European Coffee is good as well.
European tea and coffee ingredients come from europe. That’s why you like drinking them. We have lots of specialists here. They know how to make european tea and coffee taste great. Not a surprise, huh?
I am not that much into tea or coffee. However, I do admit that european tea and cofee is quite special in a way. So although I rarely have this kind of drinks, I always enjoy the european tea and coffe. They taste great.
I am sure americans would appreciate europea tea and coffee too. Someone should place a business offering european tea and coffee there. Lots of clients will come. I have friends in US that love the coffee and tea in Europe. Strange, isn’t it?
I couldn’t notice the difference, really. I can’t notice whether I’m drinking european tea and coffee or drinks from other places than Europe. How can you guys tell? I know european tea and coffee are very popular and so on, but what’s that special about them?
Once, I went to an European tea and coffee festival in Bucharest. They served us, of course, various types of European tea and coffee. After that a band sang.
It was quite fun.
I would like to try the ones from Ireland. Especially after you said that they add whiskey in it.
I guess the Irish tea and the Irish coffee are the best from European tea and coffee types.
I have never tasted European tea and coffee from other countries just ones made by my mother
Did you know that actually existed an European Tea and Coffee Museum ? It was called Brahman Museum and was located in southeast London.
I guess it had a lot of historical and modern European tea and coffee items.
It is sadly because the museum closed.
I would have loved to visit it.
European tea and coffee is best served on the continent, obviously. Bars/cafes in other places in the world offering european tea and coffee are doing it wrong. The taste is not as great as it should be. You should try the real european tea and coffee.
I don’t like European coffee and tea. I don’t like coffee and tea at all. But I would definitely try Irish ones. :D
I will try some European coffee and tea and if they are as good as you say, maybe I’ll change my mind. Till then I will be drinking just Cola.
Like everybody said European tea and coffee from England are the best. I live in England and every morning when I go to work I drink my favorite coffee to reinvigorate and to be fresh all day long.
If you ever come to England I recommend to at least try European tea and coffee. I’m sure you’ll love them.
I heard that the best European tea and coffee are in England, but the best in the world? I don’t know.
What about Chinese tea? I know that they are having rituals every time when they drink it.
Anyway, I would like to try European tea and coffee from Ireland and England and see if they are as good as you say.
I love European teas. I have made it a tradition to wake up and get a cup of hot tea and pouring some milk into it. I can not get my morning started unless I have this. At first I thought tea with milk sounded gross but one has to try it to get the great flavor.
European coffees and teas have a great taste to them. I love coffee now because since I have had European coffee I have grown quite fond of it. And the teas are pretty good as well. I have yet to try an Irish coffee but it sounds pretty tempting.
Hope to come to Europe soon and have some European tea and coffee. I’m pretty curious how they taste.
After reading this article about European tea and coffee I really want to try them and see what is different about them.
Like everyone said, I want to try European tea and coffee from Ireland and that is because I want to taste the combination between tea or coffee and whiskey. It sounds a little… weird.
I am a huge fan of Irish coffee. I spent my summer after my senior year in college in Ireland. Many days at the pubs we would order an Irish coffee. It was a great way to unwind after a long day. Plus Irish coffee is so tasty. I must say that drinking it this way compares to none other.
I love European tea and coffee from everywhere. I can’t have any good mornings if I don’t drink at least one cup of coffee or tea.
At home, I have a great variety of European tea and coffee: black tea, green tea, fruit tea etc.
So if you ask me I will say that I’m dependent after European tea and coffee.
My friend went to England and had afternoon tea there everyday she was there. She found it to be quite relaxing, sitting with her mug of hot tea. So much in fact that she now has afternoon tea over here if she can squeeze it into her busy schedule. I like the idea of having afternoon tea as well. The English sure know how to do it right.
European tea and coffee, hmmm… I have never tried any European tea and coffee. But shouldn’t they be the same with any other teas or coffees from other countries?
The difference must be made between different kinds of tea or different kinds of coffee; for example: which is better, fruits tea or herbal tea? ,not between home countries.
I am not a fan of coffee or tea at all. I have never had European coffee or tea either though so maybe theirs tastes different. Coffee is just too strong for me and the tea is just bland to me. But there could be a difference in the taste between the US and Europe so before I judge I will have to taste.
Zoja, your comment about European tea and coffee is not precise.
For example, about coffee, you can make differences between coffees from France and Italy. Their flavors are very different. You must try to see that there actually is a difference between items from different countries. But, i agree with you that European tea and coffee are the greatest.
The thing that makes European tea and coffee to be the greatest is the mode of preparation. I don’t know what Europeans put in their European tea and coffee but they are so good.
In Europe are a lot of tasty items of teas and coffees. Every country has her style of preparing them. I’ve tasted almost all kinds of European tea and coffee, but never two of a kind.
I have never had any European coffees or teas. Do they have a more distinctive taste to them? I do not really like any strong drink, so I usually do not drink coffee anyway. How does it compare to say, Folgers or Maxwell House?
I don’t think that there is anyone who doesn’t like European tea and coffee.
Everybody said that they would like to try Irish tea or coffee. I don’t blame them because they are very good. And they are not found only in Ireland.
I guess that almost any European tea and coffee shops have this kind of tea or coffee.
Emmy, indeed different kinds of European tea and coffee could be found in many countries. Like you said, European tea and coffee from Ireland is not found just there.
I drank Irish tea in England, France and Germany. Their taste and flavor were a little bit different, but they were very good. Maybe that was because of whiskey?!?! :D
I love tea. I have been found of it since my grandfather first gave me a cup. I think that English teas are the best and the only way to drink it is hot with a slice of lemon. Very tasty. Nothing can compete with this sort of tea.
Coffee is a huge part of my life, so I can see why the Europeans like it so much as well. I go through two pots or more a day. I like mine with some milk and lots of sugar. I know healthy right? But it makes me happy.
did you know tea is come from china? the original of tea was china then is shipped withe trade mans in many country tea served different and has many ways to crane tail .in india tea is serve with milk and they say its chai and use spice to serve it.in my country (iran)has great farm tea in north of iran and i offerd you try it .
Lemon tea is one of my favorites. I have been drinking it for years. I enjoy a cup every morning before work. I feel that it helps me to relax and get ready for the day. I can see why many in Europe feel that it is refreshing.
I am not a big fan of coffees or teas. At least here at home I am not. I did go to Germany for a week a few years ago and was able to drink coffee there. I returned home to drink it and did not like it again. So they must have a better quality over in Europe.
I have to agree with Ty and say that Irish coffee is a favorite of mine. I would much prefer that over any other kind of coffee or even tea. Not too much of a tea drinker. I love to have a mug of Irish coffee as a night time drink after a huge supper to calm things down.
Irish coffees are the best thing ever. I went to Ireland for a semester of college and it was the best thing I ever did. Never thought I really liked coffee much. I have been hooked ever since. Yum:)
It was actually Portugal that introduced England to tea
