European Television

If you’re heading over to Europe then you might be interested in what the European television over there is like. While on holiday it is crucial to avoid staying in all day to watch European television, European television is still likely to feature at some point in even the most adventurous holiday. At the end of the day at some point you will need to rest, and when you do you will likely want to turn on the European television in your room. At the same time, while it might not feel like it, watching European television is actually a good way to experience a little bit of the local culture as you get to see what kind of things the residents there would be watching on a daily basis. At the same time, by watching things such as the news, weather and the adverts on European television, you can get an idea for things that are occurring in the area, sites and locations to see, and how you should dress.

Most European television however will not be primarily in English. European television such as French television, Spanish television and German television will all be predominantly in their own language. If you wanted to practice your languages then while staying in the hotel (safe from embarrassment in shops etc), then European television is a great way to do this. However, fortunately due to the widespread use of the English language, it normally is possible to encounter programmes and channels that are in English. Meanwhile, while most English and American programmes will be dubbed into their native language, others will simply have subtitles and this can mean you can still understand the programme. However this means that the only European television you’re likely to understand in foreign-language speaking countries is that which is actually designed to be in English and you won’t often find German or French programmes dubbed into English on the English channels. If you want to sample some authentic European television then you will still have to watch without the language and try to pick up what’s going on from the images and from the sounds of the words.

However in England this is a different matter and this provides you with a whole lot of European television that you can understand. This then gives you a useful resource, as well as an interesting opportunity to watch some great European television and compare it to television from home. For example, this could be a good opportunity to catch a repeat of the excellent UK series ‘The Office’ on which the American ‘The Office’ was based. Similarly you can enjoy Simon Cowell in his home territory on the Xfactor – one of the most impressive success stories in European television.

I have a ritual when traveling around Europe. When visiting a country, I save 2 hours for watching european television. I like to see how it’s like in other countries. It often reflects the educational and cultural level. So it’s a good thing to watch the european television when traveling.

My favorite european television is BBC. It offers high quality news. The reporters are also well trained. So when I need to watch some news, BBC is the choice.

Another good european television is sky news. It’s also a news channel.

When I was in Germany, I watched TV during the night. I would flip our TV on and lay in bed to watch it. While it was mostly in German, I could make out some of it. It was an experience that I am glad I took advantage of.

I always turn on the European television after I had done my job. It is very relaxing and also a method to find out different things.
Like Barak said, European television has some great channels from where you can learn a lot of useful things. For example how to survive in different critical situations or how things are made. There are a lot of informative TV shows from where you can learn a lot of interesting things.

European television can be dangerous for little kids.
I don’t agree with the fact that some TV shows could influence children to do bad things. Most children do what they see at their parents, at other people or on TV. And there are some weird cartoons.
European television from this point of view isn’t “healthy”.

Thanks to European television I’ve learned 2 foreign languages.
When I was little I liked to watch soap operas. This way I learned Spanish. And of course, I learned English watching other movies.
European television was very helpful. Now I’m a translator and earn a lot of money.

From European television you can learn good things, but bad things too. That’s why it is recommend to supervise your kids while they are watching TV.
Some channels from European television can broadcast shows that can influence your kids to do bad things.
But there are some good TV shows, very interesting that can be very educative. You must know what is good for your children, what they can watch and what not to.
