USA vs Europe

USA vs Europe

USA vs Europe

Both the US and Europe have an awful lot going for them, and of course it’s impossible to say definitely who ‘wins’ in a competition between USA vs Europe – it’s a very subjective decision with far too many factors. That said, we can certainly compare the two and look at how they measure up.

The first thing you need to consider when looking at the USA vs Europe is that Europe is a continent with lots of different countries whereas the USA is a single country (though North America is also a continent). This then means that in terms of diversity, the US is going to lose out. There is just one government in the US and there is just one main language; this is opposed to Europe where there are many governments and regimes, many languages and generally huge differences depending on where you go. However that said, North America is still a highly racially and ethnically diverse region. In terms of climate and scenery both America and Europe have a lot of diverse views to offer up – compare Alaska to the Grand Canyon in the US. However it’s probably fair to say that Europe has just slightly more to offer in terms of variety of scenery and this is due to one simple fact: Europe is larger than North American. If it’s cities you’re interested in however then the US is the place to enjoy some of the largest cities and New York is considerably larger than Europe;s biggest city, London. And there’s nothing quite like Vegas in Europe either…

US vs Europe

US vs Europe

The culture in Europe and the US is very different and hard to compare as a ‘USA vs Europe’ competition. The US is relatively young compared to Europe and so it has less to offer in terms of history – there is nothing comparable to the Colosseum in Rome for instance. However at the same time, US culture now dominates – partly thanks to its flourishing entertainment industry and partly due to the huge success of capitalism that ensures that even in the remotest areas of Europe you can find a Coca-Cola dispenser. The US has largely the most influential culture in the world.

In terms of economy it’s hard to say who wins out of USA Vs Europe. This is because reports vary and it also depends on precisely what you are measuring. While wealth has fallen across the world, it seems to have dropped fastest in the US and this has left Europe with the greater share of the wealth. This is to say that Europe wins USA vs Europe in terms of wealth distribution. The EU also has the highest GDP and the largest economy, as well as the most Fortune 500 companies. That said, the US has a higher GDP than any single European country, so it is really only the combined might of those European countries that is able to compete.

Indeed the Euro was partly formed in order to compete with the dollar and so US vs Europe has never been a hotter issue. However the strength of this ‘combined’ economy is also it’s weakness and the failure of a few poorer countries that use the Euro can very much affect the value of the Euro. Meanwhile opportunities in some areas of Europe are vastly different from those in other countries – while the same opportunities are offered all across the US (though that’s not to say that the wealth is evenly distributed).

Europe vs US

Europe vs US

In terms of military might and political influence on a global stage, it is fair to say the US has the upper hand – and this is likely to continue as long as Europe consists of smaller countries. The EU military currently consists of the various national armed forces of the 27 member states rather than a single military.

It is impossible to view the USA vs Europe objectively as they are very different creatures that are inexorably different. That said, both are huge superpowers, culturally diverse, developed and proud regions and the great thing is that we don’t have to choose between them as the two go hand in hand quite nicely…

USA vs Europe? I would definitely put my money on Europe. Europe is a great continent. I think this way because of its variety of people and places. USA is a single country, while Europe has a lot of countries. So USA vs Europe, Europe is my winner.

  2. Mioara   October 16, 2011 10:48 am

If I were to choose between Europe vs USA I would definitely choose Europe. Europe is my favorite continent. I love all about it. Even if I live in USA I like more Europe. I’ve visited many countries in Europe and there people were great, not just simply fat asses like here in the USA. My winner in the USA vs Europe competition is definitely EUROPE!

  3. Tecuci   October 16, 2011 3:01 pm

I could say that in a USA vs Europe competition regarding people, Europe would win. People in Europe are much healthier and much beautiful. They are also very welcoming and very kind. I haven’t met any rude Europeans. You should all think about it and see I’m right. Europe truly deserves to win in this USA vs Europe competition.

  4. Rainny   October 16, 2011 3:59 pm

I cannot say who would be the winner in an USA vs Europe competition. I cannot be objective. I don’t know many things regarding military or economically aspects. But I can be subjective and choose between USA vs Europe the one I like most. And that would be the USA.

  5. Chitty   October 23, 2011 3:54 pm

I don’t know what to choose in an USA vs Europe competition. Both of them have advantages and disadvantages. For example I don’t like USA because of its people. They don’t appreciate health and they don’t know how to take care of themselves. And in Europe, there are some countries with people who are not so welcoming.
So, USA vs Europe…I would say there is equality.

  6. Hose   October 23, 2011 4:16 pm

OMG! How is the forth picture. We can truly see the difference between Europe and USA. OMG, the second girl is horrible. But this is the ugly truth. In a USA vs Europe competition be sure that seeing this picture I would choose Europe as winner.

  7. Googler   October 26, 2011 2:29 pm

Wow, biased much? Not even showing any of your European butter-faced lard-asses. Go ahead and attack North America, but at least they don’t start any world wars.

  8. nola70119   October 28, 2011 9:06 am

I think the pic of the soldier crying is down-low and dirty. For all we know he just lost a comrade in the line of duty. If this is the example of what you would choose to show which is better, then YOU would lose. As far as between the two, they are equal. Both have fat people. Both have ugly people. Both have rude people. Both have ignorant people. Alternately, both have healthy, pretty, kind, intelligent people. It just depends on how one buys into the us-v-them game.

  9. Zale   October 30, 2011 10:50 am

Sincerely from a USA vs Europe competition I would not choose any of them. I don’t like USA because of its people. They are too fat. And I don’t like Europe because it is not like USA. Understand?

  10. Psh   November 19, 2011 5:24 pm

Been to Europe.. I enjoy it. But there’s a few key points you’re overlooking that give us a landslide win. Nyc women are the best looking women the world . Europe is a CONTINENT, not a nation.. even though your EU is a nice attempt at becoming the United States of Europe . Lastly, you care about a perceived rivalry.. We truly could give a fuck.. I’d work on that. It’s unbecoming.

    USA! USA! USA! USA!

  12. Ella   December 8, 2011 8:18 pm

These pictures are meant to be funny, subtly suggestive, but and they also manage to be quite biased! Europe has great historic venues, tourist traps and some polished people shaped generally by one ideology: European liberal culture — socialism, (ex)communism, and some capitalism, and… “we go to church like to museums since we are so evolved and above”…. Yes there is diversity but mentality is secular and secretly/openly xenophobic. That is not so good-looking…
U.S.A has more diversity with regard to ideologies and ongoing cultural clashes — which would place a very narrow label on that “typical girl” picture shown here… None of the pictures above about the U.S. are valid: fat people are everywhere (e.g. have you seen the “starved” ex-communists in Eastern Europe?) Americans walk their pets, they go to the gyms more often, most are kind and genuine, law-abiding and supportive; as for food: add seafood, those Cesar salads, and all that variety of affordable international restaurants you won’t find in Italy for instance…
Picture-makers: Just be more funny, more witty, more thoughtful, and more accurate to inform fellow Europeans. I like Europe, West and East, but I prefer living in America where family values still mean nowadays the same as they did originally, for a large part of the nation.

The article does seem to be a little bit biased against the USA. Both Europe and the USA have growing problems such as weakening economies, welfare dependency, conflict, obesity, poor education, a lazy workforce and a corrupt elite. We in Europe and our cousins in the USA should work together to address our problems. I have never been to the USA, but I have been told that people there are actually much friendlier than they are when they are outside the USA. Both Europe and the USA have contributed a lot to the World and have become hugely successful. Unfortunately, we then simply rested on our laurels while the hard-working, highly-educated people of Asia toiled away to catch up and will ultimately overtake us. If we are to stay in the game, we need to work harder, study more, set up more businesses and improve our health.

I do not know what to choose in a USA vs Europe competition. I like both of them. I was born in Europe, but now I live in USA. So..they both are my favorite. So USA vs Europe doesn’t have a winner for me. In my opinion they are both winners.

  15. Gorun   January 8, 2012 4:02 am

This USA vs Europe article is quite interesting. You wrote the good parts and also the bad parts of these two. You’ve done a great job. Keep going with your work! I’m your fan :D

  16. Romica   January 8, 2012 8:02 am

That picture with those two girls amazes me. We definitely see the difference between USA vs Europe. If I have to choose based on this picture one of these two I will choose Europe of course. People in USA are not eating healthy food at all. I do not understand them…

  17. Thor   January 8, 2012 9:33 am

We europeans have always been the best to lie. These pics are just european illusion or dream. Europe is just as fat or junkfoodloving as they want to cliche US (Definately made by a european?. I know – cause I´m European born here and has been living here all my life! US – you are much greater that us, I have been visiting you several times, and I would wish I would born american. I hate all this european does and don´t. My country is a nannystate, with our healthsystem, taxsystem and educationsystem. People here rather call the tax or custom authorities and indicate a neighbour rather than helping them – this would definitely be opposite in US!
USA is a fastastic and strong country, – unfortunately Europe or EU will never be anything but a monstrosity. Sad bud truty. So US – top marks from here, you are the winner. Som might ask: Why haven´t you left long ago like much of your family? Well, I still belong here, and good European humor is always better. American are too afraid to step anyone on it´s feet, here we don´t care.

  18. Obama   January 25, 2012 8:44 pm

You cant honestly believe the fat girl is what every American girl looks like that’s complete BS. Also the fatness of many Americans is a direct result of poverty and or large corporate grocery chains. Any food that is fresh and does not come in a frozen tv dinner will spoil, in a country where a car is needed a lot of people cant afford to travel to a grocery store or market a few times a week to buy food. So instead the buy canned goods and frozen tv dinners which are just completely terrible for people. Also if you are lucky enough in the USA to have some sort of fresh non corporate farm grown food market in your town the price is jacked way up making the food unaffordable to many people. Combine that with people that are naturally lazy and you get a large amount of fat people. Also the Americans that are wealthy enough to travel really do give us a bad name if you actually come and visit the country you’ll find a majority of the people are the exact opposite of the cliche that’s grown to describe us. USA wins cause our everyday citizens don’t have that obnoxious idea Europeans have that they are just down right better than us (even when they have never come across the pond). Most Americans see Europe as a distant place only the super wealthy and whats left of our middle class are able to go visit.

  19. Spanish-British man   February 24, 2012 10:06 am

Wow, we don´t need nothing of this pictures to compare, it´s simply.

    Europe-> Museums. USA–> Guns
Europe->Eco-cars.USA-> V8 to go to the market.
Europe-> Culture about all the world, wars, respect, etc. USA-> They think that they haven´t been discovered by Colombus, They think that they discovered Europe.. In addition they cannot know the difference between where is Mexico and where is Spain…

I´m Spanish, but i feel very European, and i Love So much England. And my own country and Uk had wars for many years but this was forgotten, USA is not like that.. and South america too, they hate all that is not America, Look to the borders of Usa with Mexico.. In Europe we dont do that but they shoot to kill poor mexicans who only want a best life..
In adition, One part of Usa is British, and the other Spanish and in many states they refuse to speak the two languajes which must to be officials, Spanish-English, not only English.

For me Usa is a Mistake version of the thing that it should be. Usa must to be like Cánada, with more than one oficial languaje, without guns, with more healthy habits, more tolerance, less agressive people, less ignorance..

I won´t can understand why USA people say to me “Go it tacos” when they discover i´m spanish

  20. Human   March 14, 2012 1:41 am

Why do you compere 2 different countries??? Why do you humiliate another?? I don’t get it! It’s nonsense!

  21. The American   March 15, 2012 7:22 pm

@ Spanish British man, I won’t criticize your spelling for obvious reasons, but this is ridiculous. NONE of the US is British, its American. Every state in the US has a higher percentage of people who speak English than Spanish. Why in the heck would Spanish be part of the official language. And the only Mexicans who get shot are the drug cartel, you know, the people who are lynching there own citizens. I respect that you have an opinion, but you know nothing except the freaking stereotypes.

  22. Wakefulpizza   June 3, 2012 7:29 am

This is very outrageous, for a fact, some of this pictures are used as jokes. Making fun of the people is one but making fun of the people who are in the military is another. People risked their lives to fight in what they believe in, sometimes they die! They don’t need that BS from Europeans. Plus, if you had a brain about history, you would know that the formation that the Europeans supposedly used would be very bad in an actual fight. Americans tried that with the British and almost all of their people who went to them in the fight lost. Also, Asians, Africans, and many mother people live there too. Try going against all of them, America is the capital of the world. And this article just bullshited it. Plus, also this proves that Europeans have more ‘sluts’

  23. svea   July 3, 2012 5:14 am

Ignorance. Pure Ignorance. My ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War, and for you to call the USA a “mistake” makes my blood boil.

  24. Lucy   November 10, 2012 12:19 am

I think that each CONTINENT has fine things about them but as a US citizen I don’t appreciate all these bashings of my country! Yes, USA does have it’s faults but that doesn’t mean we are all obese and ugly over here there are plenty of beautiful and kind Americans just as well as Europe has overweight and greedy people as well, they are universal! I also have a bit of pride in my country I feel like with these pictures are just biased like the crying soldier who could have just seen a terrible death for all we know! So yes each CONTINENT has it’s faults and good aspects these pictures just really piss me off!

  25. GAIL   December 13, 2012 5:36 pm

    “Obesity in the United States
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Obesity in the United States has been increasingly cited as a major health issue in recent decades. While many industrialized countries have experienced similar increases, obesity rates in the United States are among the highest in the world.

According to 2007 statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), the United States has the highest prevalence of overweight adults in the Anglosphere.”
