If you have decided to move to Europe then there are many reasons you might have made this decision – it might be that you want to enjoy a slightly slower pace of life, it might be because you have fallen in love with the culture, it might be to be nearer to your job or your family, it might be because of employment opportunities or it might just be for a change. Moving to Europe offers a vast range of different options as it contains a wealth of varied countries, climates and cultures – while generally offering a good standard of living and a safe environment.
The question is, how do you decide where to live in Europe? And how do you choose from a wealth of such different countries?
Of course no one can tell you where to live in Europe, and all the countries offer something uniquely different depending on what it is you are looking for meaning that it can be quite hard to make a decision. Nevertheless there are some important considerations to bear in mind and some factors that can help influence your decision. And you need to consider not just which country to migrate to, but where you want to live within that country.
In some cases the decision will be made for you, and this will be based on moving to see family, or moving with work. In this instance where to live in Europe is not a question really outside of the specific post code – and this will be based on the convenience of the location and the house prices available. However when choosing where to live in Europe comes down to a simple desire to live somewhere different and try a change of scenery and lifestyle you need to consider what it is you are looking for. For instance if you are looking for employment opportunities then you will need to move somewhere with a lot of industry and you might want to consider somewhere like London or Paris. If you want somewhere with a slightly slower pace of life, to retire to for instance, then you might want to look into moving somewhere warmer and a bit further from the big cities such as Southern France or one of the resorts in Spain or Turkey.
You should also consider things like the cost of living when choosing where to live in Europe, as well as the crime rate, economic stability etc. This is particularly important if you are elderly of if you have a family to support and you need to think about where your children will be happy and safest. You should also consider the language of the location and whether you will be able to get by or whether the language barrier will cause problems. You don’t want it to prevent your children from making friends in school – but then if it’s just you and a partner and there’s a good expat community in the area then it won’t present such an issue. Alternatively in some cases moving somewhere like Poland or Bulgaria can help your finances to go further and might provide good investment opportunities etc.
A lot of it will come down to personal preference however and will depend on the country that charms you most with its lifestyle and its scenery – and when you find where to live in Europe you’ll probably know it without a question of a doubt.

It’s difficult to decide where to live in Europe. Actually, moving out is quite difficult. I travel a lot, thanks to my workplace and I haven’t found a country to move in. I ask myself so many times where to live in Europe and I can’t find an answer. I guess western europe would be the best option.
Where to live in europe, tough question. It’s all about your workplace, your family, your tastes etc. If you are single, you can live wherever you want. Where to live in europe is not the right question for you. Unfortunately, most of us are not that free to choose.
A lot of people are asking where to live in europe. Unfortunately, some of them make the wrong decision. They only think about the scenery and work places. That’s not all you should think about. Criminal rate, means of transportation etc are also important aspects when deciding where to live in europe. Everyone should be aware of that.
I asked the same thing some time ago. Where to live in europe? I decided that for me, a better place than germany doesn’t exist. I am a hard working person, like germans are. This is mainly the reason why I chose this country.
I really would pick the UK. But another article on this site said that the UK has the highest crime rate. I have been intrigued for a long time about the UK though. I could probably handle the crime rate, I would just need to be very careful.
A friend of mine asked me the same question. Where to live in europe? I told him my choice, which is France. He answered that French people are unfriendly and decided to move to Spain. So every person is able to choose his own country to live in.
This article makes much sense to me. Anywhere you live you must consider the cost of living. So of course it is no different in Europe. I am amazed at by how just living in different cities that the prices jump around that much. I guess you pay for convenience and all.
