Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk was the first President of the Republic of Czechoslovakia. In 1989, under the effect of the velvet Revolution, Czechoslovakia treaded towards the path of democracy and two separate countries came into existence- Czech Republic and Slovakia. Since that time, the Czech Republic has undergone a sea of economic changes and has seen a great degree of market reform. Václav Havel was the first President of the new Czech Republic.
Czech weather is quite different from most parts of Europe, having hot summers and cool and snowy winters. Due to its landlocked location, there is a pronounced difference between the summer and winter temperatures at Czech Republic.
