Greece Europe is one cultural extravaganza. With a history dating back to thousands of years, Greece is certainly a traveler’s paradise. There are some relatively unknown facts about Greece even after so many historians and so many scholars have done research on Greece and the Medieval Greek Empire. Greece, lies at the meeting point of Europe, Africa and Asia, and therefore, it has a culture which is a conglomeration of all the civilizations.
The flag of Greece is also designed in a manner that reflects the merger of various cultures and influences, besides highlighting the Greek motto of “freedom or death”.
The history of Greece dates back to thousands of years, when a new civilization was born along the shores of the Aegean Sea. This civilization later branched off into two main civilizations- the Minoan Civilization and the Mycenaean Civilization., both of which are supposedly two of the oldest civilizations on this planet. Later, under the guidance of some of the most valiant rulers and fighters, especially the likes of Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar, the Greek Empire spread to the most extreme reaches of the world, and undoubtedly, the Greek civilization has been one of the best civilizations during the whole existence of mankind.
The Greek culture is an evolution of hundreds of decades, and the Greek are known for their rich cultural heritage, cuisine and sportsmanship. The Olympics, as we all know, are a gift of the Greeks. There have been many great artists and connoisseurs of art from Greece, and it is said that when an artist from Greece fires some of his artistic jewels, there are very few who can give him competition. The Greek are very particular about their cuisine and because Greece is one of the few Mediterranean countries, its cuisine is mostly centered on sea-food. There are some great restaurants where one can enjoy the scrumptious Greek seafood and Mediterranean cuisine, with Mr Greek- the restaurant, being one of the best. Mr Greek is a chain of restaurants that could be found at various places in Greece and is a highly recommended place for a traveler who wants to have a first hand experience of true Greek cuisine.
